About Ms. Sharifian

Beverly Sharifian is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC #13072). She obtained her Master of Science in Clinical Psychology in 2019 from the University of Texas at Tyler. Beverly’s native tongue is English, and she speaks Farsi and French as well. This has allowed her to provide culturally competent care, including therapy, case management, and rehabilitation services to clients from diverse backgrounds. Beverly’s previous experience has been in both inpatient and outpatient, as well as primary care behavioral health and integrated health settings.

Beverly’s experience includes providing neurorehabilitation services, including neuropsychological testing, to survivors of spinal cord injury, stroke, and traumatic brain injury. In her work with clients, Beverly uses the biopsychosocial model, implementing behavioral health interventions to address stress reduction, diet/nutrition, weight management, chemical dependency, chronic illness, terminal illness, grief/bereavement, as well as illness prevention strategies and recovery management. Most recently, Beverly has worked with underserved populations, including those with severe, persistent mental illness, specializing in transitional aged youth services. Beverly is trained in crisis intervention and risk assessment. She continues to support clients by collaboratively safety planning and creating relapse prevention plans.

Beverly has a passion for the integration of physical and mental health. Her therapeutic approach is grounded upon the principles of person-centered and existential therapy, as well as the integrated behavioral health and biopsychosocial models. Beverly draws techniques from evidence-based modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed approaches based on her client’s needs.

Beverly is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association and the San Diego Psychological Association. Her research interests include empathy, burnout, self-care, social emotional learning, mindfulness, and integrated care outcomes.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
