About Dr. Kamat
Dr. Kamat is a CA-licensed psychologist and a board-certified neuropsychologist (American Board of Professional Psychology; ABPP). Her expertise is in evaluating and treating adults with neurodegenerative disorders/dementia, strokes, traumatic brain injuries, and other neurologic disorders.
Dr. Kamat’s clinical experience includes conducting neuropsychological assessments and providing psychotherapy in outpatient settings, rehabilitation hospitals, geriatric psychiatry units, and intensive care units. Additionally, she also has extensive research experience in studying the underpinnings of successful aging as well as neuropsychiatric disorders across neurologic conditions.
Dr. Kamat aims to provide patient-focused care during each evaluation or therapy visit. A typical neuropsychological assessment involves a detailed discussion of the patient’s cognitive difficulties followed by a tailored assessment of various aspects of cognition. Finally, the patient and their loved ones participate in an in-depth conversation regarding the test results and the implications for future care and well-being. Similarly, therapy sessions involve a partnership with patients to develop useful skills to improve quality of life.
In addition to clinical work, Dr. Kamat performs civil forensic work and workers’ compensation evaluations and treatment. Dr. Kamat performs independent medical evaluations (IME) in a variety of contexts, including fitness for duty.
Dr. Kamat speaks Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati.
“My goal as your provider is to conduct a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation and help you understand your strengths and weaknesses so that we can work together to optimize your well-being and quality of life. It is my privilege to partner with each patient and their loved ones.”
